The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) is now available in Ontario. Beginning January 2023, the Canada Greener Homes program and Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate have combined into a single program. Under HER Plus, the rebate amounts are different depending on what “package” you are eligible for. Enbridge gas customers who live and own the home they are living in are eligible for the highest rebates and can receive up to $10,600 for their home efficiency project. Non-Enbridge customers, home that are off-grid, and non-owner occupied houses (i.e. rental houses) are also eligible for rebates under HER+.

A home energy assessment must be completed to be eligible for rebates. ecostep is a Registered Energy Advisor (REA) and is licensed by Natural Resources Canada and Enbridge to perform home energy assessments under HER+.
1. Contact ecostep Energy Advisors to discuss your project and what rebates you are eligible for and to schedule a home energy assessment
2. ecostep Energy Advisors will enroll you in the program – we take care of everything!
3. Complete a “pre” home energy assessment with ecostep Energy Advisors.
4. After the initial home energy assessment, ecostep customer’s will receive the following:
a. Homeowner Information Sheet
b. EnerGuide rating
c. Renovation Upgrade Report
5. Complete your home efficiency projects. Be sure to keep copies of all your receipts and invoices along the way.
6. Contact ecostep Energy Advisors to schedule your “post” home energy assessment. ecostep Energy Advisors will submit all paperwork to Enbridge for our customers.
7. Receive your rebate cheque which includes reimbursement for the home energy assessment.
8. Keep all documentation until March 31, 2028.
The first step is to schedule a home energy assessment with ecostep Energy Advisors. As soon as the assessment is completed, you will be eligible for rebates and can start your home upgrade projects. After your projects are completed, contact ecostep Energy Advisors to schedule your follow-up assessment. You will receive your rebate cheque from Enbridge approximately 16-weeks later. You do not need to submit an application or contact Enbridge. ecostep Energy Advisors will take care of everything for you.
ecostep energy Advisors will look after all paperwork and will submit your application on your behalf to NRCan and Enbridge.
Under HER+, you do not register with NRCan or Enbridge to get rebates. ecostep Energy Advisors will take care of everything for you. If you want to apply for a loan from Canada Greener Homes (NRCan) you still need to apply through them using the NRCan portal: https://cghli.ca/home
Enbridge has said participants should receive their rebate cheque in the mail approximately 16 weeks after the final application and all paperwork has been submitted by ecostep Energy Advisors. The final application will be submitted after your home upgrade projects are completed and the second home assessment is completed.
To be eligible for a rebate, home upgrade projects MUST NOT have started before the initial home energy assessment. Contact ecostep Energy Advisors to schedule your appointment as soon as possible so you can get started with your projects.
You can start your home upgrade project as soon as the first home energy assessment is completed. You do not need to wait to receive reports or any paperwork to get started and be eligible for rebates.

Customers can receive up to $10,600 per household under HER+. Of this, $10,000 is for equipment upgrades and $600 is for the home energy assessment.
Yes, up to $600 of the cost of the home energy assessment is covered under HER+. This is for both the initial and final assessments and does not include HST.
If you had a home energy assessment completed before the project started, then you are eligible for rebates under HER+. Only home energy upgrade projects that had an assessment completed before the project started are eligible for rebates. That means if you started the project before the home energy assessment, you are not eligible for rebates for any of the equipment under that project.
Absolutely! All customers in Ontario whether they are an Enbridge customer or not can participate in the program and receive rebates. However, some rebate amounts are higher for Enbridge customers.

There is no deadline to complete your home energy upgrade project, however, we recommend that you contact us to schedule your follow-up assessment as soon as your home upgrade projects are completed so you can get your rebate cheque as quickly as possible.
Yes, rental homes are eligible under HER+.
